![]() We had a picnic on the grounds just gazing at it. ![]() Find a picture and you can see it is amazing from the outside. I can recommend one chateau that my son (then 8) and I went to - Chambord. There are a lot of small wineries you can stop at, sample wine or sometimes see where the wine is made. I'm not sure how much the kids will like Beaune (I say this because I never researched that area for kids - you could have found a lot to do with them in mind), but Burgundy is a very pretty area and you will enjoy being in the countryside there. It is so gorgeous you won't want to leave! If the weather would not cooperate, you would miss so much there. Unless there is something specific to see in Zurich, I think the extra day would be better spent in Paris.Īlternatively, leave Paris alone and add an extra day in Switzerland, taking away from Zurich. Paris and the BO were the highlights for my kids. If not, you know how much there is for them to see. If the kids were there with you before, they were very young and would get so much more out of it now. I know you said you've been to Paris before and just want a quick revisit, but I would still add more time there since the kids will be with you. It is simply a matter of preference, as either way works just as well logistically, however I like the idea of ending in Paris. > Paris -> Loire -> Burgundy -> Zurich - you would take the TGV from Dijon to Bern and from there there are regular conenctions to Zurich. It can also work just as easily in reverse, i.e. It is an easy train ride to the airport from downtown. I would recommend catching the train the day before your return flight and spend the night in Zurich somewhere near the Bahnhof. You can take the TGV from Paris directly to Zurich it is either 4 or 6 hours, depending on which train you take. ![]() As long as you pick up and drop off within the same country, most rental agencies do not charge more to drop in a different location. Amboise is a nice central town for visiting the region.įrom here it is an easy drive to Paris where you can drop off your rental. I would recommend Beaune as a base.įrom there it as an easy (and beautiful) drive to the Loire Valley. You can pick up a rental car in Dijon and spend a few days in Burgundy. you can head directly from Paris via TGV from Bern, or you could take the TGV from Bern to Dijon instead - which would be my preference. I agree with the previous advice of heading directly to the Berner Oberland.įrom the B.O. We are taking a similar journey with another couple all the kids.
